Pushing the boundaries of textile manipulation, Bart Hess’s art pieces transcend the limits of video, photography and fashion mixing them all with an unconventional sci-fi twist.

Known for his material mutations, use of latex and his futuristic views of a human “second skin”, his work has been invading the media with big name collaborations; from bathing Lady Gaga with slime on her “Born this Way” video to working with high fashion photographer Nick Knight and setting up performances at the Palais de Tokio.

Playing with the verge of what’s bizarre and off-putting, Hess’s body of work showcases a mastering in the understanding of the human body, delivering it through a surrealistic often-weird view of anatomy.

Distorting human morphology to the extreme, Hess creations can make us dream with Avant Garde fashion visuals but can also “keep us alarmed”, thanks to their challenging under tones.
