From the 15th of December 2017 through 25th March 2018 La Triennale Museum of Milan will host Rick Owens’ new retrospective exhibition.
The unique exhibition named “Subhuman Inhuman Superhuman” wants to celebrate the creative universe of the designer with a selection of pieces from his archives such as garments, furnitures, films, graphic artworks, objects and different accessories. All these items will be displayed and connected with a special site-specific installation created by the designer himself for the museum.
Not just clothes but all the things that can demonstrate the evolution and the depth of the visual language of the designer during the latest two decades. This exhibition wants to show the full universe of Rick Owens and it comes after the latest exhibition at the Moca-Museum of Contemporary Art of Los Angeles, during which only fornitures design was on display.
Rick Owens was born in California in 1962. In 1994 launched his own fashion line and his first runway show, in New York, has been supported by Anna Wintour and Vogue USA; in 2003 hemoved to Paris and the city became the operative centre of his activity. Last but not least, in June 2017 he has been awarded with the Life time Achievement Award by the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
Rick Owen is not just a fashion designer, he is definitely much more. He is a real creative mind, who likes to play with his imagination and expresses his personal way to see throught different kinds of art. Rick Owens is one of those people who is able to shock, to make others think, he likes to play with uglyness, rawness and who looks beyond... for sure this exhibition too will have a lot to say.
