‘We make colorful music because we dance in the dark’.This is the motto of ‘Greco Roman’, the record label that provided the DJ’s last Friday at the Panorama Bar in Berlin. One of them was 24-year-old Marius Lauber, who Greco Roman signed for his disco project ‘Roosevelt’ and for whom their motto seems to fit as a glove.
In fact every song on debut EP ‘Elliot’ is a song of the body, making you want to get up and dance even if you rarely dance.Marius Lauber had stints in several bands in Berlin (Beat! Beat!Beat!), before returning to his hometown Cologne to focus on amore disco driven project out of which ‘Roosevelt’ was born. What is so fascinating about Lauber and Roosevelt is that the soundscape ranges from New Order to Caribou, suggesting anything else but a24 year old Indie kid from Cologne. Lauber’s vocals are slightly but beautifully out of tune and his basslines leave “no neck in the world stay stiff.”
The debut album is on its way, so, switch off the lights, follow the dog to the sea…. and dance!
