The exploration of the persona through a three dimensional reality is aiming to celebrate the present where the embroidered characters escape their present form; part of them is still there whilst another part becomes something else, someone else.
A one time vintage photo seemingly trapped in a “space”, enters our reality,“carrying” an enigmatic and mysterious feel to it.
A direct sewing that embellishes his “protagonists” with hand-made embroideries as if they are high fashion costumes.
Through his creative attempt to track and reinterpret his subjects, Maurizio Anzeri becomes part of the whole process developing an intimate relationship with each depicted character.
