Argentinean artist, Milan based, Mariano Franzetti once again surpasses the expectable with “Choripan”, a personal exhibition curated by Elisa Ajelli.

The body of new work reveals the artist’s witnessing and interpretation around the EXPO’s themes regarding nutrition as well as the close bond between the Italian and the Argentine culture.

A communion defined by a high level of affinity, which the artist has closely experienced, having lived in Argentina and then settled in Milan, the host city of the World Expo.

Mariano Franzetti, adopts both cultures and depicts them in “Choripan” through a single outlook; his personal one.

The artist embraces a broad sense in his endeavour to portray the significance and vision of nutrition, rooted in the most recent history of Argentina.

The artistic translation of Mariano Franzetti illuminates the corresponding evolution of the Argentine cuisine composed by a cultural blending and Italian influences, conjoined with the Italian Mediterranean culinary tradition.

The artist paints the essence of Nutrition, averting from representing it solely as the basic need of human existence to be fed.

Mariano Franzetti, “colors” Nutrition through the values of the community, such as the sharing of the highlights of the newspaper (as in his series of works Iconoclast), and the need for redemption made by identification with contemporary superheroes, ranging from the world of sports, the macho decadent or the brilliant and “jazzy” typical traditions of both countries (hence the title of the exhibition: “Choripan” is a typical dish eaten Argentine street).

A highlight of the daily need of the Italian and Argentine man for healthy rituals that feed both body and soul. Irony and a neo-pop style “dance” along in “Choripan” giving a fresh optic. Paintings, sculptures and multimedia installations transmit through an effective simultaneity the parallelism that inhabits the two countries, as far as traditional and modern expression.

“Choripan” is a reflection of the irony, poetry and attempt that encircles the human being, prompting us to find new ways of affirmation and a sense of belonging. A declaration of today’s need for sharing, caring and cultivation of human relationships.

These are truths, which do not escape from the evidently alert eye of Mariano Franzetti, who with profound attention and sensitivity towards the socio-cultural “ waves”, narrates his own life, a life where what he tastes, sees, thinks and touches, is a summary of a life outlined by an ineffable, beyond words, stylistic research of a new contemporary humanism.

The “Choripan” exhibition is supported by the Consulate of Argentina, the EXPO Argentine Pavilion, the Expoincittà, and the Association of Milan 5Vie .
