The new SS2017 Collection by Samuel Gui Yang
For those of you who haven’t yet heard of him: Samuel Gui Yang, is a London-Based Chinese designer/creative; he made his bedut at Milan Fahion Week, presenting Epheremal Study 3, his SS 2017 Collection.
The “spectacle” was composed by a theatrical mise en scène of the SS17 Collection, highlighting the encounter of Western and Eastern aesthetics through visual stimuli of video contributions, images and objects.
The avant-garde creations of the designer were revealed in a unique setting, curated by the interior designer Thibaut Van Hoorebeke, and incorporating guest artworks by Jiang Sheng.
The collection retraces Yang’s archive with a new and profound study of the silhouette; sinuous shapes with an intriguing and innovative combination of technical materials and elegant fabrics, while the typical Chinese floral print fabrics screen-printed to obtain unique and evocative shadings.
The designer’s aesthetic is following Samuel’s interest in the human form, rooted in his backrground in the fine arts. His pieces allow contact or proximity to the living body: Yang is exploring new physical and visual languages as keys to interpret the fashion universe and its processes.
