The CACTUS project is a book; its “story” goes like this: Inside each one of us there is a desire to be heard, to build a name for ourselves or have the chance to express our ideas through words, images and art.
The CACTUS project was born out of this desire; the desire to have a voice, which goes heard and transcends its founding members, Luca Smorgon, Valeria Peschechera, Gianni Grosso and Diego Puzzangara.
A yearning to allow artists, photographers and illustrators to express themselves and share their common ideals which point towards a place where “the one who stops gets lost”
The Best Ideas Come From Necessity; here goes the motto of the project and the sum up of a visual articulation via an eclectic mix of pictures.
Original, contemporary, provocative, diverse, ironic and conceptual, creative oriented with a unique approach.
What About Cactus? An imaginary journey defined by a pleasurable reading? Indeed. Long columns spare their presence. Instead, the reader gets invited for a dream like experience, flying slowly -through photographic and artistic works - to imaginary places.
The requirements are simple: an open mind, free from prejudice and conventional rules and the will to embark in a journey that will allow one to dive into an imaginary world.
How about the choice of the name? Well, it simply states and displays the personality of the book. Just like a cactus’s singular appearance, unconventional beauty and resistant nature, the project’s name wishes to reveal more or less the same principles: unconventional and uncontaminated beauty, a strong survivor that collects and safeguards as many ideas and inspirations as possible. The “fil rouge” of this experiment is the new fashion image, very different from the glossy conventional ones published in magazines.
The introduced images shape up a sort of a visual puzzle of an alternative beauty. An unorthodox journey that can bother you, drive you crazy, make you smile, amaze you or annoy you.Welcome in!
