A Million Times by Humans since 1982

Art/Design

The ‘A million times’ is a graphically conceptual, mechanical and engineered based design project, developed by Stockholm-based Humans since 1982.

It regards an installation designed for Victor Hunt. “A Million Times” is composed by 288 special two-handed analogue clocks, equally powered by 576 electrical engines, where engine drives the minute and hourhands independently and collectively create a giant display, which visually expresses the time digitally.

A kinetic installation by which since 1982 the clock evolves to a new object: Humans unleash for the last three decades these unique items representing an expansive timepiece.

“Locked in its functionality to show the time, the natural character inherent to an analogue clock with its two arms constantly dancing in slow motion around the center, unveils hidden figurative qualities without denying its primary purpose”.

‘A Million Times’ was presented for the first time at Design days Dubai 2013. Design days Dubai 2013 and was showcased at this year’s Art Basel.
